Morala is a private nature reserve nestled among the mountains of the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site. We are about 20km out of Parys, heading towards Potchefstroom, and roughly 120km from Johannesburg.
Our vision is to bless our visitors with a peaceful respite from the stress and busyness of everyday life, enjoyment of nature’s beauty, and a taste of the adventures the outdoors provide.
In summer, the farm comes alive with greenery and insects, and our streams flow with bubbly excitement in the rainy season. Winter brings quieter nights and clearer skies for stargazing.
Our residents include zebra, nyala, and impala, though outside visitors such as monkeys and warthogs occasionally pop in.
In summer, a wonderful variety of birds, insects, and other small critters enliven the bush.
The Vredefort Dome
Dating back 2,023 million years, the Vredefort Dome is the oldest meteorite impact structure found on Earth. With a radius of 190 km, it is also the largest and the most deeply eroded. In 2005 the Vredefort Dome was declared South Africa’s seventh World Heritage Site.
